Abstract
This work addresses cancer in children's literature through the semiotics of space and time. This disease is considered the second leading cause of death in Mexico. The literature produced on this topic does not mention the name of the disease and is intended to motivate children to face it bravely. The work *Raro: Un encuentro con Furia* (Strange: An Encounter with Fury), written by Elizabeth García Guerra, will be analyzed. This book is derived from the stories of two children with this condition during art therapy sessions in the oncology ward of a hospital in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico.
Through magical realism, the aim is to show how the fusion of these elements grants children a sense of utopia and identity to confront any adversity. Through the semiotics of space and time, the types of memories and aspects of places will be examined to help them overcome their fears and pass through various trials to strengthen their fighting spirit.
Through an exploratory and descriptive qualitative methodology, this study will examine how space and time shape an infant's identity and instill values that enable them to confront dangers through fantasy. The contribution of this study is the creation of a therapy book that includes reading comprehension activities and stories designed to energize the child and help them face risks.
