Abstract
This article narrates and investigates one of the most important aspects of José Vasconcelos´s life, making education a fundamental element of national life. Likewise, his “conventional past” is reminded, his reflections on education he made it his own the Maderista idea: with
education, man is free and in freedom can build up and defend a democratic rule of law. Vasconcelos was awarded with the opportunity to carry out his ideas, due to the achievements of the “sonorenses”, as the Universidad Nacional rector, he endorsed them, so they became a reality. Among those tasks that were fundamental of his educational thinking was El Maestro. Revista de Cultura Nacional. Everything that the native of Oaxaca undertook, the magazine was profitable. The magazine was part of his
terrific educational project, without forgetting the books known as “pastas verdes”, and he envisioned it so that through it he would give Mexican’s elements of information and national and universal culture. The magazine was a symbol of this phase. The brightest and most deeply rooted spirits of America and Europe collaborated. Pages were rescued or translated from the favorite authors of the Mexican educator and philosopher. Finally, the magazine come with Vasconcelos in this odyssey for the education
and culture of all Mexicans. In summary, you might see the attitude and the environment that prevailed in this great struggle for public education in Mexico.
