Abstract

The narrative work of Luisa Josefina Hernández has elements from her other artistic experience: drama. This paper analyses fragments from three different novels written by this autor, in which the influence of drama dialogues with subjects such as nostos and nostalgia. In La plaza de Puerto Santo (1961), Nostalgia de Troja (1970) y Apocalipsis cum figuris (1981), for these subjects, dramatic elements play an important role with the narrator’s and characters’ perspectives. Also, theater is there as part of life and this thing becomes a third subject in play: Theatrum mundi. Human beings are like characters inside a play.
This research shows the use of dialogues, monologues, and metaliterature elements on different situations. The author also novelizes genres from drama such as sitcom ‘comedia de enredos’, ‘pastorelas’ y alegoric theater. The time between the three novels shows and evolution in Luisa Josefina’s narrative with the help or drama elements. Returns or journeys of the characters are shown in two dimensions: physical and psychological. Also, nostos as a subject does not become a success like in the Odyssey, and nostalgia can have different times: past, present, future and the Absolut.
